Mathematics

6 0

Surface area of a rectangular pyramid = A + 1/2 p s

Where:

A = area of the base

p = perimeter of the base

s= salnt height = 5 in

A = Area of a rectangle = length x width = 8 x 4 = 32 in2

Perimeter of the base = 2 lenght + 2 width = 2(8)+2(4) = 24 in2

SA = 32 + 1/2 * 24 * 5 = 92 in2

Han says that you can wrap a 5-foot rope around a wheel with a 2-foot diameter because is less than pi. Do you agree with Han? C
madam [21]

Given :

Han says that we can wrap a 5 foot rope around a wheel with a 2 foot rope.

To Find :

It this true or false.

Solution :

Radius of wheel, r = 1 foot.

Circumference of wheel is given by :

C = 2\pi r\\\\C = 2\times 3.14\times 1\\\\C = 6.28 \ foot

Since, circumference is greater than 5 foot, therefore, we cannot wrap a  5-foot rope around a wheel with a 2-foot diameter.

Hence, this is the required solution.

The sum of 5 consecutive integers is 120. What is the third number in this sequence?
aliina [53]
Ok so

x - the smallest
The other 4 are : x+1, x+2, x+3, x+4
We know that sum is 120
So
x+x+1+x+2+x+3+x+4=120
Combine like terms
5x+10=120
Subtract 10 on both sides
5x=120-10
5x=110
Divide by 5 on both sides
X=22
The third number is x+2 = 22+2=24
