The force between the two point charge when they are separated by 18 cm is 3 N

How do I determine the force when they are 18 cm apart?

Coulomb's law states as follow:

F = Kq₁q₂ / r²

Cross multiply

Fr² = Kq₁q₂

Kq₁q₂ => constant

F₁r₁² = F₂r₂²

Where

 • F₁ and F₂ are the initial and new force
 • r₁ and r₂ are the initial and new distance apart

With the above formula, we can obtain the force between the two point charge when they are 18 cm apart. Details below:

 • Initial distance apart (r₁) = 6 cm
 • Initial force of attraction (F₁) = 27 N
 • New distance apart (r₂) = 18 cm
 • New force of attraction (F₂) =?

F₁r₁² = F₂r₂²

27 × 6² = F₂ × 18²

972 = F₂ × 324

Divide both side by 324

F₂ = 927 / 324

F₂ = 3 N

Thus, the force when they are 18 cm apart is 3 N

Jerome is learning how the model of the atom has changed over time as new evidence was gathered. He has images of four models of
Yuki888 [10]

Answer:

Y, X, Z, W

Explanation:

Jerome must put the given models in the order Y, X, Z, W to display the development of atom from the earliest to the most recent one. 'Y' represents 'Thomson's plum pudding model' came in 1904 which was followed by the 'Rutherford's nuclear atomic model' of 1911 as represented by X. This was succeeded by the 'Bohr's electrostatic model' in 1913(as shown in model Z) and lastly, the model W which exemplifies the 'Quantum Mechanical Model' by Edwin Schordinger in 1926. Thus, the correct order is Y, X, Z, W.

A 500 lb steel beam is lifted up by a crane to a height of 100 ft and is held there.
Nadya [2.5K]

A. How much work is being done to hold the beam in place?

Work is the product of Force and Displacement. Since there is no Displacement involved in just holding the beam in place, hence the work is zero.

B. How much work was done to lift the beam?

In this case, force is simply equal to weight or mass times gravity. Hence the work is:

Work = weight * displacement

Work = 500 lbf * 100 ft

Work = 50,000 lbf * ft

C. How much work would it take if the steel beam were raised from 100 ft to 200ft?

The displacement is still 100 ft since 200 – 100 = 100 ft, hence the work done is still similar in B which is:

Work = 50,000 lbf * ft
