First clear one variable of any equation, I will choose the x from the first:

10x+y=-1810x=-18-yx=\frac{-18-y}{10}

Now replace in the second:

0=5x+3y+40=5(\frac{-18-y}{10})+3y+45\left(\frac{-18-y}{10}\right)+3y+4=05\cdot \frac{-18-y}{10}+3y+4-4=0-45\cdot \frac{-18-y}{10}+3y=-4-9+\frac{5y}{2}=-4-9\cdot \:2+\frac{5y}{2}\cdot \:2=-4\cdot \:2-18+5y=-8-18+5y+18=-8+185y=10y=2

Now replace first the y:

x=\frac{-18-y}{10}x=\frac{-18-2}{10}x=\frac{-20}{10}x=-2

x=-2

y=2

you are making curtains by alternating strips of solid colored fabric and patterned fabric. the solid colored fabric costs 99¢ p
weeeeeb [17]
Hello,

to find the total cost (c) of the colored strips we have to multiply the number of strips (n) by the cost of each color strip (99¢), that as an algebraic function is:

\boxed{c= n*99} [¢]

Now, if we use 3 solid color strips, that means that we use 4 patterned strips, so:

Cost=3*0.99+4*1.25 \\ \boxed{Cost= 7.97}

Answer: c=n*99   and   Cost per curtain= $7.97

Viktor [21]
1/10 currant
2/5 is cherry × 2 to get it out of 10
so 4/10 (cherry) + 1/10 (currant) = 5/10 so 5 raisins

(-4)(-4) use an exponent to rewrite the expression
DiKsa [7]
For this case we have the following expression:
<span> (-4)(-4) &#10;
 By properties of exponents we have:
 Same basis, the exponents are added.
 We have then:
 (-4)^{1+1}
 Then, rewriting the exponent we have:
 (-4)^{2}
 Therefore, an exponent to rewrite the expression is:
 2
 Answer:

(-4)^{2}
 an exponent to rewrite the expression is 2.</span>
