For the given system of inequalities, x represents the number of brownies and y the number of cookies.

And the graph can be seen in the image below.

What each variable represents?

Here we have the system of inequalities:

4x + 6y ≥ 200

x + y < 75.

We know that they want to make less than 75 items, that is what the second inequality:

x + y < 75.

Represents.

We also know that each brownie costs $4, and each cookie costs $6, then the expression:

x*4 + y*6

Represents the revenue for selling x brownies and y cookies, and because they want to earn at least $200, the inequality becomes:

x*4 + y*6 ≥ 200

So we conclude that x represents the number of brownies and y the number of cookies.

Now the system is:

4x + 6y ≥ 200

x + y < 75.

To graph it, you just need to graph both the lines and shade the indicated region, we can write the inequalities sa:

y ≥ (200 - 4x)/6

y < 75 + x

Just graph these two lines, for the first one you need to use a solid line and shade the region above the line, for the second, a dashed line and you need to shade the region below the line. The graph can be seen below.

The solutions to the systems are in the region where both shaded parts intersect.

There we can see that the point x = 20 and y = 20 (among a lot of other ones) is a solution to the system.

Coach Rivas can spend up to $750 on 30 swimsuits for the swim team. The inequality shown can be used to find the maximum amount
777dan777 [17]

Answer:

$0 < p ≤ $25

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that coach Rivas can spend up to $750 on 30 swimsuits.

This means that the maximum cost that the coach can afford to pay is $750, then if the cost for the 30 swimsuits is C, we have the inequality:

C ≤ $750

Now, if each swimsuit costs p, then 30 of them costs 30 times p, then the cost of the swimsuits is:

C = 30*p

Then we have the inequality:

30*p ≤ $750.

To find the possible values of p, we just need to isolate p in one side of the inequality.

So we can divide both sides by 30 to get:

(30*p)/30 ≤ $750/30

p ≤ $25

And we also should add the restriction:

$0 < p ≤ $25

Because a swimsuit can not cost 0 dollars or less than that.

Then the inequality that represents the possible values of p is:

$0 < p ≤ $25

A ship is carrying gold bars and silver bars in the ratio 13:17. The ship's load
andreyandreev [35.5K]

Using proportions, considering the weight of each bar and the ratio, it is found that the ship is carrying 52 gold bars.

What is a proportion?

A proportion is a fraction of a total amount, and the measures are related using a rule of three.

Each bar weighs 5 kg, and the total weight is of 600 kg, hence the number of bars is given by:

n = 600/5 = 120.

The proportion of gold bars is given by:

p = 13/(13 + 17) = 13/30

Hence, out of 120 bars, the number of gold bars is given by:

nG = 120 x 13/30 = 4 x 13 = 52.
