The valence electrons are present in the lewis formula for the perchlorate ion will be 32.

The electrons in such an atom's outermost atomic shell known as the valence electrons may be those that orbit the nucleus. Core electrons are mostly in filled orbitals some of which are located closest to the nucleus.

The formula of perchlorate ion is ClO^{-} _{4}.

The valence electrons of Cl is 7 and the valence electrons of oxygen is 6 , one negative charge . By adding the total valence electron, it will be 32.

The valence electrons are present in the lewis formula for the perchlorate ion will be 32.

Hence, the correct answer will be option (e).

Consider the Zn(s) + Cu+2(aq) Zn+2(aq) + Cu(s) system. Which element was the electron acceptor? A)zinc B)copper
kykrilka [37]

Answer:

B) copper.

Explanation:

The reaction: Zn + Cu²⁺ → Zn²⁺ + Cu.

Zn losses 2 electrons and converts to Zn²⁺.

Cu²⁺ gains 2 electrons and converts to Cu.

So, the electron acceptor element is copper.

The right choice is: B) copper.

A sample of gas has an initial volume of 4.2 L at a pressure of 736 mmHg. If the volume of the gas is increased to 9.0 L , what
Lana71 [14]

We will use Boyle's law. P = 1/V which simply means pressure is inversely proportion to volume at a constant temperature. We will assume temperature here does not change. Since we have two pressure/volume points, we use this version of Boyle's law.

P1 V1 = P2 V2

P  is pressure and V is volume

In our case:

P1 is 736, V1 is 4.2 while  V2 is 9.0 but P2 is unknown. This is what we need to find out.

736 * 4.2 = P2 * 9.0

P2 = 736 * 4.2 / 9.0

P2 = 3091.2 / 9.0

P2 = 343.5

Therefore the new pressure 343 mm/hg

Here we see that the increase in volume causes decrease in pressure in total agreement with Boyle's law.
