A student would like to determine how heating a liquid changes its volume. The student hypothesizes that the liquid will increas

e in volume. The following list shows the steps taken by the student in order to test the hypothesis.
Select the liquid to test.
Place the liquid in a sealed container.
Use a Bunsen burner to heat the liquid by 10°C.
Measure the volume of the liquid.
Record the results.
What is wrong with how the student conducted the investigation?

Forgot to measure the volume in the beginning so the student could tell the difference

The volume of the liquid should be measured before it is heated.  Because During an experiment to test how a variable changes a substance, it is important to first observe and record the characteristics of the substance before the variable is introduced. In this case, the variable is heat energy.

The Pacific Plate is moving 29 mm/year toward the north and 20 mm/year toward the west relative to the North American Plate. Sho
adell [148]

Answer:

7 mm per year

Explanation:

It is given that :

The Pacific plate is moving towards north at = 29 mm per year

The Pacific plate is moving towards west at = 20 mm per year

We have to calculate the total relative motion towards the northwest.

So we have to find the resultant of the two motions.

Since the two movements are perpendicular, therefore the angle between the two motions is 90 degree.

Therefore, finding their resultant,

R^2=(29)^2+(20)^2

R^2=(49)^2

R = 7

Therefore, total relative motion towards the northwest is 7 mm per year.

Displacement vectors of 10 m west and 14 m west make a resultant vector that is ?
goldenfox [79]

Resultant vector= 24 m west.

Explanation:

resultant vector= r1+ r2 when the two vectors are in same direction

r1=10m west

r2= 14 m west

so resultant displacement= 10 + 14

resultant displacement= 24 m west
