How do you use equivalent fractions to compare the fractions in each pair
Alenkasestr [34]
Firstly you need to to reduce to a common denominator by multiplYing the whole fraction. This way you have to multiply 4/5 by 2 (both numerator and denominator). so 4/5 = 8/10. And now you have 8/10 and 9/10. You compare only numerators. This way you have 8/10 <9/10. Same goes for 2/3 and 5/8. Only here you need to multiply both fractions. The common denominator here is 24. So you have to multiply 2/3 by 8 and 5/8 by 3. You now have to compare 16/24 and 15/24. 16/24>15/24.

Select the correct answer.
masya89 [10]

Answer:

D

Step-by-step explanation:

Either try all the numbers and see which ones work or do the following.

Times both sides by 2x-5.

3=x(2x-5)=2x^2-5x

Rearrange and solve the quadratic. I will factorise.

2x^2-5x-3=0

(2x+1)(x-3)=0

so x = -1/2 or 3

The admission fee at a small fair is $1.50 for children and $4.00 for adults. John spent $12.00 for admission. Write an equation
g100num [7]
So what you are trying to find is the certain amount of children tickets and adult tickets. the final amount is a total of $12. This means that a unknown number of children tickets (c) times 1.50 (price of each ticket for children) plus the unknown number of adult tickets (a) times 4.00 (price of each ticket for adults) equals a final cost of $12.00.

Equation: 1.50c+4.00a= 12.00
