Y = -1 is a horizontal line going through "-1" on the y axis

Note that the point (1,2) is exactly 3 units of distance above the line y = -1

When we reflect across this line, the point (1,2) will just move straight down to exactly 3 units of space below the line y = -1.  Since we are not shifting left or right, the x coordinate of our original point will not change.  The y coordinate of our original point will now need to be reduced by 6(3 units down to get to the line of reflection and then 3 more down to get to the image location)

The coordinates of the image point will be (1, -4)
Now we need to do the same process with (1, -4) being reflected across y=1

Note (1,-4) is 5 units of distance below the line y = 1 , so we need to reflect the point upward so that the image point is located exactly 5 units of distance above the line y = 1  Again, the x coordinate does not change, and our final image coordinates are (1, 6)

I guess more simply stated, if you're just looking for the number in the green box it would be " 1 " .. Reflecting points across horizontal lines only result in changes of the "y" coordinate since there is no shift left or right.

Given: Quadrilateral PQRS is a rectangle. Prove: PR = QS
lord [1]

Answer:

Given: Quadrilateral P QR S  is a rectangle.

To prove :PR= Q S

Construction : Join PR and Q S.

Proof: In Rectangle PQRS, and

→ taking two triangles PSR and Δ QRS

  1. PS = Q R

  2.  ∠ PS R  = ∠ Q RS  [Each being 90°]

  3. S R is common.

→ ΔP SR ≅  Δ Q RS → [Side-Angle-Side Congruency]

∴ PR =Q S [ corresponding part of congruent triangles ]

Hence proved.

The graphs below have the same shape. What is the equation of the red
Citrus2011 [14]

Answer:

g(x)=2-x² OR g(x)=-x²+2

Step-by-step explanation:

Notice that the red parabola doesn't stretch or compress. It only translates 3 units down. This means taking the original equation f(x)=-x²+5 and subtracting 3 units will get us the equation g(x)=-x²+2 which is also the same thing as g(x)=2-x². Looks like some of your answer choices got cut out of the picture so make sure to choose the answer I provided.

Two students, Carlos and Sophie, factored the trinomial -4x2 − 10x + 6. Sophie factored it as -2(2x − 1)(x + 3) and Carlos facto
damaskus [11]

Sophie has factored the term completely while Carlos has not factored the term completely.

Step-by-step explanation:

We need to factor the trinomial:

-4x^2-10x + 6

Factoring:

-4x^2-10x + 6\\Taking\,\,-2\,\,common:\\-2(2x^2+5x-3)\\Now\,\,factoring:\\-2(2x^2+6x-x-3)\\-2(2x(x+3)-1(x+3))\\-2(2x-1)(x+3)

So, the factored form of -4x^2-10x + 6 is -2(2x-1)(x+3)

So, Sophie has factored the term completely. The terms are factored when we cannot further simplify it. Since Carlos factored (x+3)(-4x+2) 2 can be taken common from the term (-4x+2) so, it is not factored completely.
