We know that 1 mole of anything has a volume of 22.4 liters.

And 1 mole of N2 gas has a weight of 28 grams.

Comparing them , we get the answer as 5.31

Answer : The mass of nitrogen gas at STP is, 5.31 grams.

Explanation : Given,

Volume of nitrogen gas = 4.25 L

Molar mass of nir=trogen gas = 28 g/mole

As we know that at STP,

1 mole of gas contains 22.4 L volume of gas

According to the question,

As, 22.4 L volume of gas present in 1 mole of N_2 gas

So, 4.25 L volume of gas present in \frac{4.25}{22.4}=0.189 mole of N_2 gas

Now we have to calculate the mass of nitrogen gas.

\text{Mass of }N_2=\text{Moles of }N_2\times \text{Molar mass of }N_2

\text{Mass of }N_2=0.189mole\times 28g/mole=5.31g

Therefore, the mass of nitrogen gas at STP is, 5.31 grams.

Alex73 [517]

Atomic radius

Explanation:

A decrease in moving from the bottom of Group 3 to the top of the group shows an increase in trend from top to bottom.

The atomic radius of elements increases from top to bottom and decreases from the bottom to the top.

The elements in group 3 are B, Al , Ga, In and Tl

 • Atomic radius is taken as half of the inter-nuclear distance between two covalently bonded atoms of non-metallic elements or half of the distance between two nuclei in the solid state of metals.
 • Downs a group from top to bottom, atomic radii increases progressively due to successive shells being added.
 • This compensates for the size reducing effect of the increased nuclear charge.

2 reason why noble gases become less ideal in their behaviour down the group
masha68 [24]
Well, to start with, since the atomic radius of the gas increases as it goes down the period, it causes there to be a decrease in the effect that the nucleus's positive charge has on the valence electrons ( more electrons in between, and more distance ). This causes the valence electrons to become less tightly bound to the atom, which translates to a deviation from the noble gases tendencies to remain nonreactive.

sineoko [7]

Answer: The given statement is true.

Explanation:

A catalyst is defined as the substance that lowers the activation energy of a chemical reaction without itself getting consumed so that there will be increase in rate of reaction.

As catalyst lowers the activation energy so, reactant molecules with lower energy also participates in the reaction. Hence, more collisions occur due to which there is rapid formation of products take place through another path.

Therefore, we can conclude that the statement a catalyst increases the rate of a reaction without being consumed. It accomplishes this by providing another mechanism that has a lower activation energy, is true.
