Explanation:

Liver has numerous functions in a body of rat, one of which is producing bile. The purpose of bile is mainly to digest fats. Liver also turns other waste into less harmful substances. Rats do not have gall bladder like other animals, because bile produced by them is much more concentrated and purpose of gall bladder is to concentrate bile, so it seems unnecessary in rats to have a gall bladder. Now with many functions including proteins for blood, storage and release of glucose and so on, the production of much more concentrated bile requires much stronger connective tissues and large then average size of liver.
