Reading fiction estimulates the audience mind, and since most of the material is made up, it estimulates focus, memory and imagination by empathy due it's the author's imagination on the spot, and also it introduces the reader to new and strange characters and places, that's why it's essential making notes about what we are reading and even keeping a journal of what we are decoding or figuring out in order to fully understand and enjoy the journey.

Answer:

D). She is having a hard time feeling safe in almost all situations.

Explanation:

As per the given excerpt from 'Homecoming,' the last statement most aptly describes the mood and temperament of Dicey that 'she is undergoing a bad time in feeling safe in almost every situation.' The descriptions like 'Dicey couldn't see...seat,' 'studied...darkening car,' 'she didn't feel safe,' etc. further justify this conclusion that she had an inherent fear inside her which was not letting her to do things independently.
