In order to find the area of this figure, you will need to separate the individual figures and find their areas, then add the total for the entire area.

The square part should be easy, it's only base * height. In this case, the base is 6 and the height is 5. You don't want the answer so that's the farthest I'll go with that =)

Then, there are the triangles.
Right triangles are easy to find area of in that they are simply a rectangle split diagonally, so the area of a triangle is simply base * height over 2, and since the triangles are the same measure, the base would be half the base of the square, which is 3. The height is 2.

Don't forget that there are two triangles, though, so a shortcut in this problem would be to solve one triangle for base * height and then leave off the divide by two step, since there are two triangles that have the same area, and so you would end up just multiplying by 2 in the end, thereby cancelling out the divide by 2 step entirely.

Hope that helped! =)

a group of students attend a math club half the students are boys and 4/9 of the boys have brown eyes what fraction of the group
enyata [817]
From the whole group half the club are boys.
fraction of boys from the whole class = 1/2
from this fraction, 4/9th of the boys have brown eyes
therefore fraction of boys who have brown eyes
= 4/9 of 1/2
the 'of' function is used to multiply
\frac{4}{9} *  \frac{1}{2}
when multiplying fractions numerators are multiplied by numerators and denominators multiplied by denominators
\frac{4*1}{9*2} =  \frac{4}{18}
4/18 can be simplified by dividing the whole number by a common number
4/18 divided by 2 = 2/9
the answer is 2/9
2/9 of the club are boys with brown eyes

X to the 3rd power= 64/343
leva [86]

Answer:

x = 4/7

Step-by-step explanation:

x^3 = 64/ 343 // - 64/ 343

x^3 - ( 64/ 343 ) = 0

x^3 - 64 / 343 = 0

1*x^3 = 64/ 343 // : 1

x^3 = 64/ 343

x^3 = 64/ 343 // ^ 1/3

x = 4/ 7

Answer:

Null hypothesis H_0; \mu=5

Alternative hypothesis H_a; \mu\neq 5

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the provided information.

The shower by an adult is 5 minutes.

The mean amount of time that college students spend in the shower is significantly different from 5 minutes. In a sample of 15 students, he found the average time was 4.29 minutes and the standard deviation was 0.75 minutes.

We need to determine the appropriate null and alternative hypotheses.

A null hypothesis is there is no statistical significance between the two variables.

An alternative hypothesis is there is a statistically significant relationship between two variables.

Therefore the required null and alternative hypothesis are:

Null hypothesis H_0; \mu=5

Alternative hypothesis H_a; \mu\neq 5
