When pcl5 solidifies it forms pcl4 cations and pcl6–anions. according to valence bond theory, what hybrid orbitals are used by p
SSSSS [86.1K]

When pcl5 solidifies it forms pcl4 cations and pcl6–anions. according to valence bond theory, hybrid orbitals that are used by phosphorus in the pcl4 cations are one orbital of s and three orbital of p as it is sp³hydridised.

What is sp³ hybridization?

Hybridization is a process or system which specifies the shape and geometry of any element or molecule with bond angles too.

The pcl4 cation is sp³ hybridized because of the phosphorus behave as a central atom here and the 4 chloride molecules are attached with the p- orbitals to the phosphorus molecule.

Therefore, pcl4 cation is sp³ hybridized.

How many moles of KCLO4 can be produced with 3.45 moles of NaCl. Assume all other reactants are in excess
ycow [4]
NOTE question is incorrect: The question should be:
How many moles of KCLO4 can be produced with 3.45 moles of KCl. Assume all other reactants are in excess.
.......................................................................................................................

The reaction involving formation of KClO4 is

NaClO4 + KCl → KClO4 + NaCl

From above reaction, it can be seen that 1 mole of NaClO4 reacts with 1 mole of KCl to generate 1 mole of KClO4

Thus, if all other reactant are in excess, 3.45 moles of KCl will react with 3.45 moles of NaClO4 to form 3.45 moles of KClO4.

What are the independent and dependent variables in each of the experiments?
Alex787 [66]
Independent variable is the thing that you change in the experiment (ex:temperature) and the dependent variable is the thing that you measure depending on the thing you change (ex:volume of oxygen produced)

How can you tell something is a nuclear reaction rather than just a chemical reaction? pls help!
Tomtit [17]
Answer is: D- there are different elements as products.
In balanced chemical reaction, there are same elements and number of elements on both sides of the reaction.
In nuclear reaction there are different elements and number of elements on the nuclear reaction.
For example nuclear reactions are alpha and beta decay, where new elements have different atomic and mass number.

Answer:

Radiation, because the element of the heater comes in contact with air in the room. Convection, because energy is carried by waves and not matter. Radiation, because heat travels in a cyclical manner.
