If the pKa value for a given acid is low, what does that say about the acid (is it weak or strong)?

Answer:

If the pKa of the acid is low (negative), then the acid is strong.

Explanation:

Ka, <em>the acid ionization constant,  </em>measures the strength of an acid in a solution. Stronger acids have higher Ka values.

We defined: pKa = -log[Ka]

This function is a decreasing function, meaning that pKa will be getting smaller and smaller,  while increasing Ka (high values of Ka will have negative pKa values). Therefore, stronger acids (high values of Ka), will have low (negative) pKa values.

What is the ph of a solution that has a poh of 11.24
galina1969 [7]
Always remember that pH + pOH = 14
Here, you have a pOH of 11.24, so  you replace it in the equation, and u get:
pH + 11.24 = 14

Then, You move 11.24 to the other part. and moving from a part to another change the sign of the equation. And you get:
pH = 14 - 11.24 = 2.76

So, the pH of a solution that has a pOH of 11.24 is pH = 2.76

Hope this Helps :)

Green plants use light from the Sun to drive photosynthesis, a chemical reaction in which liquid water and carbon dioxide gas fo
san4es73 [151]

Answer:

                    1.8 moles of O₂

Explanation:

                     The balance chemical equation for said double replacement (photosynthesis) reaction is as follow;

                           6 CO₂ + 6 H₂O → C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6 O₂

According to balance chemical equation,

                 6 moles of O₂ are produced by  =  6 moles of CO₂

So,

                1.8 moles of O₂ will be produced by  =  X moles of O₂

Solving for X,

                     X =  1.8 mol × 6 mol / 6 mol

                     X =  1.8 moles of O₂

Stoichiometric problems in which moles are given and moles or other reactant or product asked are the simplest problems. One should only write the balanced chemical equation and perform above method to find the required moles.
