What was the overall tone of Lewis's speech? What parts of Lewis's speech were changed? Why?
Crazy boy [7]
The overall tone of Lewis' speech was angry and strong. For some, the speech sounded too belligerent. John Lewis changed parts of his speech at the request of Martin Luther King, Jr. Lewis said he could not say no to King because King was his hero, his inspiration.
The part where Lewis said they cannot wholeheartedly support the administration's civil rights bill for it is too little and too late was removed from his revised speech.
Lewis' original speech "We will march through the South, through the heart of Dixie, the way Sherman did" was changed to "we will march with the spirit of love and with the spirit of dignity that we have shown here today"

Five to ten sentences, describe how Islam and Christianity have impacted the world in positive ways?
rjkz [21]

Christianity and Islam are the two largest religions in the world and share a historical and traditional connection, with some major theological differences. The two faiths share a common place of origin in the Middle East, and consider themselves to be monotheistic.

The  effect of the spread of Islam was an increase in trade.  Unlike early Christianity, Muslims were not reluctant to engage in trade and profit; Muhammad himself was a merchant.  As new areas were drawn into the orbit of Islamic civilisation, the new religion provided merchants with a safe context for trade.  The application of sharia—Islamic law derived from the Koran—ensured a certain measure of uniformity in the application of criminal justice.  Sharia law protected commerce and imposed stiff punishments for theft and dishonesty.  Muslim jurists called qadis were established to resolve disputes through the application of sharia.  Merchants were thus provided with a forum for making complaints and having them resolved in a consistent and systematic way.  Trade and travel were not as risky or perilous as before and both thrived with the coming of Islam.

The introduction of European diseases to American Indians was an accident that no one expected. Neither the colonists nor the Indians had a good understanding of why this affected the Native people so badly.

The great impact of disease on the Native population of America is an important part of the story of European exploration. Experts believe that as much as 90 percent of the American Indian population may have died from illnesses introduced to America by Europeans. This means that only one in ten Natives survived this hidden enemy. Their descendants are the 2.5 million Indians who live in the United States today.

New trade goods represented another big change that European explorers and colonists brought to American Indians. Soon after meeting their European visitors, Indians became very interested in things that the colonists could provide. In a short time, the Indians began using these new materials and products in their everyday lives. Native hunters were eager to trade prepared deer hides and other pelts for lengths of colored cloth. Metal tools such as axes and knives became valuable new resources. Soon American Indian men put aside their bows and arrows for European firearms, powder, and lead shot.

Another big change connected to this new trade was slavery. Europeans needed workers to help build houses and clear fields. They soon realized that they could offer trade goods like tools and weapons to certain American Indian tribes that would bring them other Indians captured in tribal wars. These captured Indians were bought and sold as slaves.

Hope this helps! :)
