Hey there!

A half-life means after a certain amount of time, half of that substance will gave decayed after that time.

So, we divide the 120 atom sample in half 3 times.

120 ÷ 2 = 60

60 ÷ 2 = 30

30 ÷ 2 = 15

There will be 15 atoms of the radioactive sample remaining after three half lives.

Hope this helps!

Which substance will require more energy to heat if all the samples have the same mass? A chart with two columns and nine rows.
Paraphin [41]

Here we have to identify the sample which need more energy to heat the sample 1 degree Celsius.

Among the given elements magnesium will require more energy than the others to heat.

As per the definition of specific heat of a compound, the amount of heat required to increase the temperature of the material 1 degree Celsius is the specific heat of the material.

The given data are-

substance specific heat

Lead 0.129

Tin 0.21

Silver 0.235

Iron 0.449

Calcium 0.647

Granite 0.803

Aluminium 0.897

Magnesium 1.023

From the given data lead, magnesium, iron and aluminium have the specific heat 0.129, 1.023, 0.449 and 0.897 respectively. Thus magnesium will require more energy than the others to heat.

A salt bridge: Question 3 options: provide a pathway through which the electrons travel from the cathode to the anode. provide a
Vesnalui [34]

Answer:

The correct option is: provide a source of counterions to prevent the build-up of charge at both the cathode to the anode.

Explanation:

A salt bridge is a U-shaped glass tube that is used in a voltaic cell or galvanic cell to connect the oxidation and reduction half-cells and complete the electric circuit.

It allows the ions to pass through it, thus preventing the accumulation of charge on the anode and cathode as the chemical reaction proceeds.

Therefore, the correct option is: provide a source of counterions to prevent the build-up of charge at both the cathode to the anode.

Many computer chips are manufactured from silicon, which occurs in nature as SiO2. When SiO2 is heated to melting, it reacts wit
riadik2000 [5.3K]

Answer:

A) SiO2 is the limiting reactant

B) Theoretical yield= 72333.3g

C) % yield =91.5%

Explanation:

SiO2(s) + 2C(s) --------------> Si(s) + 2CO(g)

n(SiO2)= 155000/60 = 2583.33 mols

n(C)= 79000/12= 3291.66 mols

a)SiO2 is the limiting reactant

According to the balanced reaction equation,

60g of SiO2 produced 28g of SiO2

155000g of SiO2 will produce 155000×28/60= 72333.3g

Therefore theoretical yield of Si= 72333.3g

% yield= 66200/72333.3×100/1 =91.5%
