Native Americans on the Plains were more nomadic following large game especially the bison. Often the tribes would have a summer and winter camp moving to be in the best positions to hunt. Their homes were portable utilizing lumber and buffalo hide. The Plains tribes would be quick to utilize horses when they come available after Spanish settlement in the Americas. 
The West Coast tribes were sedentary creating villages. In the NW, fishing was most common where the SW tribes relied on small animals and farming. Being they were not chasing food, the tribes could remain in one place. Homes were made of lumber in the NW and mud or clay in the SW. 

Religion of the tribes was animistic, based on natural god(s). Also men and women tended to have more of an equal say in tribal affairs.
