In one state, all cities and most towns have antismoking ordinances. A petition entitled "Petition for Statewide Smoking Restric

tion" is being circulated to voters by campaign workers who ask only, "Do you want to sign a petition for statewide smoking restriction?" The petition advocates a state law banning smoking in most retail establishments and in government offices that are open to the public.Which of the following circumstances would make the petition as circulated misleading to voters who understand the proposal as extending the local ordinances statewide?(A) Health costs associated with smoking cause health insurance premiums to rise for everyone and so affect nonsmokers.(B) In rural areas of the state, there are relatively few retail establishments and government offices that are open to the public.(C) The state law would supersede the local antismoking ordinances, which contain stronger bans than the state law does.(D) There is considerable sentiment among voters in most areas of the state for restriction of smoking.(E) The state law would not affect existing local ordinances banning smoking in places where the fire authorities have determined that smoking would constitute a fire hazard.

Answer:

(C) The state law would supersede the local antismoking ordinances, which contain stronger bans than the state law does.

Explanation:

State laws have more authority than local laws. For this reason, when a statuary law is sanctioned, it must replace existing local laws for the same subject. It is at this point that we can observe what the problem with the petition shown in the above question may be, making this petition circulating misleading to some readers.

Many cities, counties, and others have local smocking restriction laws that are much broader than the state law the petition wants to be sanctioned. Some people do not understand the relationship between state and local laws and will think this state law will help local smocking restriction law, when in fact state law will replace it.

faltersainse [42]

Answer:

carbon management

Explanation:

The speakers spoke on the themes of sustainable work environments, carbon management, corporate philanthropy, the digital divide, and privacy invasion. As you can see, all the lectures report a discussion about a socio-environmental theme focused on the corporate environment and the relations of that environment with society and natural resources. The only lecture that does not fit this type of theme is the one focused on "carbon management".

This is because this theme is aimed at the industrial productive sector, and does not refer to a socio-environmental issue, specifically, like the other themes.

sattari [20]

Answer:

There are many examples of fossils found on separate continents and nowhere else, suggesting the continents were once joined. If Continental Drift had not occurred, the alternative explanations would be: The species evolved independently on separate continents – contradicting Darwin's theory of evolution.

Decision making begins with ______________. select one:
goblinko [34]
When making a decision, who said that there would be a problem at the time. And that would then conclude that (option b) would then NOT be your correct answer. According to my information, I believe that "decision making" would actually begin with "selecting alternatives". As you would then do this, you would be taking out the options that you would have, and because of this, you would then understand what to do next, as the next option would then be 'taking out what you don't need" which would then be the first option. But as for the first step in what to do when making decisions, this would therefore be your (last option) as it would then read the following: "selecting alternatives".
