Left turn lane

Left turn lanes are used when vehicles are turning left. It is mandatory for a vehicle to come inside the lane completely and then wait for the traffic to clear before making the turn. The vehicle is not allowed to be half inside the lane and half outside, blocking the traffic and producing dangerous driving conditions.

A 3 kg mass object is pushed 0.6 m into a spring with spring constant 210 N/m on a frictionless horizontal surface. Upon release
Svetradugi [14.3K]

Answer with Explanation:

We are given that

Mass of spring,m=3 kg

Distance moved by object,d=0.6 m

Spring constant,k=210N/m

Height,h=1.5 m

a.Work done  to compress the spring initially=\frac{1}{2}kx^2=\frac{1}{2}(210)(0.6)^2=37.8J

b.

By conservation law of energy

Initial energy of spring=Kinetic energy  of object

37.8=\frac{1}{2}(3)v^2

v^2=\frac{37.8\times 2}{3}

v=\sqrt{\frac{37.8\times 2}{3}}

v=5.02 m/s

c.Work done by friction on the incline,w_{friction}=P.E-spring \;energy

W_{friction}=3\times 9.8\times 1.5-37.8=6.3 J

Two devices with capacitances of 25 μf and 5.0 μf are each charged with separate 120 v power supplies. calculate the total energ
mash [69]
The energy stored in a capacitor is given by
U= \frac{1}{2} CV^2
where C is the value of the capacitance while V is the voltage difference applied to the capacitor.

Let's calculate the energy of the first capacitor:
U_1 =  \frac{1}{2} (25\cdot 10^{-6}F)(120 V)=1.5 \cdot 10^{-3}J

And now the energy of the second capacitor:
U_2 =  \frac{1}{2} (5 \cdot 10^{-6}F)(120 V)=3 \cdot 10^{-4}J

So, the total energy stored in the two capacitors is
U=U_1 +U_2 = 1.8 \cdot 10^{-3}J

Lesson 11: electricity & magnetism unit test physical science b unit 5: electricity and magnetism (connexus)
vovikov84 [41]

Electricity and magnetism can be considered as part of the same phenomenon because both are generated by electromagnetic forces.

<h3>What is electricity?</h3>

Electricity is the movement or flow of negatively charged electrons through a suitable conductor where a charge is applied.

Moreover, magnetism is a natural phenomenon caused by the generation/movement of electric charges.

In conclusion, electricity and magnetism can be considered as part of the same phenomenon because both are generated by electromagnetic forces.
