An ideal coil and an ideal capacitor can be connected in series or in parallel. The circuits so formed are fed to the same sinus

oidal alternative voltage. The equivalent reactants of the circuits at the serial and parallel connection, respectively, are Xs and Xp. Knowing the coil inductance L, determine the capacitance of the capacitor.

Let the coil inductance be L and the capacitance of the capacitor be C.

When the ideal coil and an ideal capacitor are connected in series,

Xs = L + C

When the ideal coil and an ideal capacitor are connected in parallel,

Xp = (L/C) / (L + C)

Substituting Xs into the equation for Xp,

Xp = (L/C) / Xs

C = L / Xs • Xp

When you whirl a can at the end of a string in a circular path, what is the direction of the force that acts on the can
andreyandreev [35.5K]

Answer:

Toward the centre of the circular path

Explanation:

The can is moved in a circular path: this means that it is moving by circular motion (uniform circular motion if its tangential speed is constant).

In order to keep a circular motion, an object must have a force that pushes it towards the centre of the circular trajectory: this force is called centripetal force, and its magnitude is given by

F=m\frac{v^2}{r}

where m is the mass of the object, v its tangential speed, r the radius of the trajectory. This force always points towards the centre of the circular path.

For an object at rest, the normal force equals the gravitational force. What is the sum of these forces called?
Thepotemich [5.8K]

The sum of all forces on an object is called the "net" force on it.

For an object at rest, we call that sum of forces "zero".
