Given: The length and width of the rectangle are given i.e 40 m and 30 m

According to Pythagorean theorem:

             (Hypotenuse)^2=(Perpendicular)^2+(Base)^2\\

The diagonal of the rectangle becomes the hypotenuse, length becomes perpendicular and width becomes base of the triangle.

(Diagonal)^2=(Length)^2+(Width)^2

                   (Diagonal)^2=40^2+30^2\\              =1600+900\\                 =2500\\Diagonal=\sqrt{2500} \\Diagonal=50 m

So, the length of the diagonal of the rectangle is 50 m\\
