Hello!

To find the value of x, you need to use SADMEP. SADMEP is PEMDAS reversed and it is only used when solving algebraic equations.

SADMEP is subtraction, addition, division, multiplication, exponents, and parentheses. SADMEP has the same rules as PEMDAS, you subtract, then add, after you divide, then multiply, etc.

The main goal when solving algebraic equations is to get the variable on one side the equation.

5 - 4x = -27 (subtract 5 from both sides)

-4x = -32 (divide both sides by -4)

x = 8

A good thing to always do is to check your work after solving equations. To check, you substitute the value of x back into the original equation and simplify. Since you are not solving algebraic equations, you need to use PEMDAS.

5 - 4x = -27; x = 8

5 - 4(8) = -27 (multiply)

5 - 32 = -27

-27 = -27 | This is correct!

Therefore, the answer is x = 8.

Hey there! :)

5 - 4x = -27

To find x, we must isolate it.

So, our first step should be subtracting 5 from both sides.

5 - 4x - 5 = -27 - 5

Simplify.

-4x = -32

Divide both sides by -4.

-4x ÷ -4 = -32 ÷ -4

Simplify.

x = 8

Why the systems must have the same solution?system(a)4x-5y=13.....3x+6y=11........system(b) 8x-10y=26.....x-11y=2.........AKA QU
Y_Kistochka [10]
When you add the equations in (a) you get 7x+y=24.

When you subtract the equations in (b) you also get 7x+y=24.

That means to solve both systems you can work with the same equation. However that is not enough. We must have two equivalent equations. We found only one.

Notice however that in the (b) we can take the first equation and divide every term by 2. When we do this we get 4x-5y=13. That’s the first equation in (a).

So both systems can be solved by working with the same two equations. These are 5x-5y=13 and 7x+y=24. And since we have two equations and two unknowns (the number of equations matches the number of variables) there is only one solution — one x and y that would make both systems true — solve both systems.

Basically we showed the systems are equivalent!
