Clark plans to fertilize his yard this summer. His yard is 40 feet wide a 60 feet long. thus included a 4 foot wide and 20 foot

long flower bed, which he will not fertilize. A bag of fertilizer costs $8.25 and covers 1,000 square feet. He also hopes to fertilize his neighbors yard the neighbors yard is 50 feet wide and proportional to clarks yard including a 5 foot wide and 30 foot long flower bed that will not be fertilized how long is the neighbors yard? set up a proportion. How many square feet of his own yard will clark fertilize

To figure this out, first, figure out the area of the whole yard:

The equation for area is length*width.

So, 60 ft long*40 ft wide=2400 square feet.

But the flower bed will not be fertilized, so we subtract that out:

Again, area of the flower bed is length*width.

20 ft long*4 ft wide=80 square feet.

Then, just subtract the area of the flower bed from the total area:

2400 square feet-80 square feet=2320 square feet.

So, 2320 square feet of Clark's yard will be fertilized.

1. Write out the law of cosines and find the hypotenuse of triangle with 2 sides lengths equal to three and the included angle m
LUCKY_DIMON [66]

Answer:

1.) \sqrt{13.341}  ≈ 3.652

2.) I would say something about how the A in front of cos in the equation would change to 90, rather than stay 75 (in the equation for the step by step), but it would be easier to just use the Pythagorean theorem.

Step-by-step explanation:

I think we may have the same class so hopefully this helps:

1.) a^2 = b^2 + c^2 - 2bccosA --> law of cosines formula.

   a^2 = 3^2 + 3^2 - 2(3)(3)cos(75) --> plugged in numbers; when you draw the triangle, the included angle would be A, and the opposite side would be a. B and b, and C and c are opposite each other. In this case, a is the hypotenuse.

   a^2 = 18 - 18cos75 --> in between steps.

   a^2 = 13.341 --> more simplifying.

   a(hypotenuse) = \sqrt{13.341} or 3.652 --> answer

2.) This one is just an explanation: The 75 in the equation is the given angle, which is a. If this changes, it would just change in the equation too. And obviously, if it's 90 degrees, you can just use Pythagorean theorem a^2+b^2=c^2.

Good luck! :)

Lisa [10]
First you divide $4000 by 160 to see how much each book costs. Then you multiply 2 times the cost for each book and subtract that from $4000.

$4000/160= $25
$25=1 book
So if the store gives away 2 books that's $50 dollars. $4000-$50 equals 3,950
