Chalcocite is an ore from which copper can be extracted for commercial use. the formula for this important ore is cu2s. in the l

aboratory it is formed by the following reaction: 2cu s → cu2s the reaction takes place in laboratory conditions that allow the reactant atoms to move freely about in the reaction vessel. explain this reaction in terms of collision theory.

2 moles of Cu atoms are mixed with 1 mole of S atoms. you have to heat or stir allowing for the atoms to collide. when 2 Cu atoms collide with 1 S atom, Cu2S is formed. unfortunately, it isn't that easy because adding copper and sulfur together without a catalyst or in solution would not produce copper I sulfide. You need to create an environment for a redox reaction to occur. most likely acidic conditions.

Explain how might a renewable energy source become nonrenewable
Marysya12 [62]
If you use up renewable resources faster than you can reproduce them, then they're really non-renewable. For example, if you're cutting down trees faster than they're growing, then you'll eventually run out of trees, even though they're "renewable". Technically, oil is renewable, but it takes millions of years to create, so it's non-renewable.

Water heater contains 56 part a how many kilowatt-hours of energy are necessary to heat the water in the water heater by 25 ?c?
DochEvi [55]

Answer is: 550,021 kWh of energy is needed to heat the water

V(water) = 51 gal = 51·3,78 = 189,3 L.

ΔT(water) = 25°C.

d(water) = 1000 g/L.

m(water) = V(water) · d(water)

m(water) = 189,3 L · 1000 g/L

m(water) = 189300 g.

Q = m(water) · ΔT(water) · C(water)

Q = 189300 g · 25°C · 4,184 J/°C·g

Q = 19800780 J = 19800,78 kJ ÷ 3600 = 550,021 kWh.
