Given

 • E = -17
 • F = -10
 • G = 1
 • H = 8
 • I = 14
 • units in cm, all on a number line

Find

 1. The length of FI
 2. Two segments that are the same length

Solution

1. The distance from F to zero is 10. The distance from zero to I is 14. Those distances add to give the distance ...

... FI = 10 cm + 14 cm

... FI = 24 cm

2. The coordinates E and F differ by 7, as do the coordinates G and H. One pair of equal-length segments that are 7 cm long is {EF, GH}.

Segment FG can be added to each of those to make another pair of equal-length segments that are 18 cm long: {EG, FH}.

A florist has 96 white roses, 72 red roses, and 108 pink roses. If all the roses are used, what is the greatest number possible
natali 33 [55]

The greatest number possible of identical bouquets that can be made is 12

Solution:

Given that,

A florist has 96 white roses, 72 red roses, and 108 pink roses

All the roses are used, we have to find the greatest number possible of identical bouquets that can be made

Therefore, we have to find the greatest common factor (GCF) of 96, 72 and 108

GCF of 96, 72 and 108

The factors of 72 are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 12, 18, 24, 36, 72

The factors of 96 are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 24, 32, 48, 96

The factors of 108 are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12, 18, 27, 36, 54, 108

Then the greatest common factor is 12

Thus, greatest number possible of identical bouquets that can be made is 12
