August, who had been homeschooled due to a facial deformity, is sent to a school for the first time. The school's principal, Mr. Trushman picks three children whom he heard to be nice and arranged a sort of welcoming commitee for him. The principal asks these kids to befriend August and show him around, so as to help him transition into school life.
