A fart is just intestinal gas that’s passed from the anus(aka butt); the reason of "why" is because if we did not pass the gas in some way then we would become bloated and could possibly even die if the pressure caused by the intestinal gas became strenuous enough on out vital organs.

The population of any given area can only change through three processes: birth, death and migration.
