Set it up as a proportion. start with the smaller numbers, 6 ft friend and 4 ft shadow. 4/6 reduces to 2/3.  so 2/3= 24/x.   the easiest way to finish the problem is to divide by 2, and multiply by 3. for instance- 24/2= 12. 12*3= 36, so the building is 36 feet tall. to check plug it back in, is 2/3= 24/36?

Perform the indicated operation <br> g(x)=x^3+5x and f(x)=2x-2 <br> Find (g o f)(x)
Blababa [14]

Answer:

  g(f(x)) = 8x^3-24x^2+34x-18

Step-by-step explanation:

The composition is ...

  (g\circ f)(x)=g(f(x))=g(2x-2)\\\\=(2x-2)^3+5(2x-2)\\\\=(2x)^3 +3(-2)(2x)^2+3(-2)^2(2x)+(-2)^3+10x-10\\\\=8x^3-24x^2 +24x-8+10x-10\\\\\boxed{(g\circ f)(x)=8x^3-24x^2+34x-18}

AB is tangent to the circle at B. M∠A=40 and mBC=130. <br> a. Find x <br> b. Find y
soldi70 [24.7K]

The values for x and y are respectively given as

  • x = 50
  • y= 90

This is further explained below.

<h3>What is the values for x and y ?</h3>

Generally, the equation for secent  is  mathematically given as

secent = \frac{big arc - small arc}{2}

Therefore

40 = \frac{130-x}{2}

80 = 130-x

x = 50

b) To Solve for y Now we find a measure of arc CD

ArcCD = 360-130-50

ArcCD = 180

In conclusion,(1/2) of the arc measure is equal to the angle that is on and inside a circle.

y = 180/2

y= 90
