Set it up as a proportion. start with the smaller numbers, 6 ft friend and 4 ft shadow. 4/6 reduces to 2/3. so 2/3= 24/x. the easiest way to finish the problem is to divide by 2, and multiply by 3. for instance- 24/2= 12. 12*3= 36, so the building is 36 feet tall. to check plug it back in, is 2/3= 24/36?

Given cosx=12/13
TiliK225 [7]
1. You have the following information:

Sinx=5/13

Cosx=12/13

2. By definiton, you have:

Tanx=(Senx)/(Cosx)

3. When you susbtitute Senx=5/13 and Cosx=12/13 into Tanx=(Senx)/(Cosx), you obtain:

Tanx=(Senx)/(Cosx)
Tanx=(5/13)/(12/13)
Tanx=(5)(13)/(13)(12)
Tanx=65/156

4. Therefore, the answer is;

Tanx=65/156

Grandma has just finished baking a large rectangular pan of brownies. She is planning to make rectangular pieces of equal size a
Nikitich [7]

Answer: 60

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the side lengths of the rectangular pan be m and n. It follows that (m-2) (n-2)= mn/2

So, since haf of the brownie pieces are in the interior. This gives 2 (m-2) (n-2) =mn

mn- 2m - 2n- 4 = 0

Then Adding 8 to both sides and applying, we obtain (m-2) (n-2) =8

Since now, m and n are both positive, we obtain (m,n) = (5,12), (6,8) (up to ordering). By inspection, 5. 12 = 60

which maximizes the number of brownies in total which is the greatest number.

Hope that helped! =)

Find x, y, and z.

Show all of your work for full credit.
Stella [2.4K]
If you can't read it, I'll do my best to translate:
Z) 10^2 + 5^2 = 125
√125 = 11.18 = Z

Y) tan-1(5/10) = 26.57°
90 + 26.57 = 116.57
180 - 116.57 = 63.43°
5 ÷ sin(63.43) = 8.88 = Y

X) 11.18^2 + 8.88^2 = 203.8468
√203.8468 = 14.28
14.28 - 10 = 4.28 = x

All numbers are rounded to 2 decimal places, if you need any explanations for why I did something then just let me know :)
I hope this helps!
