I'd say it was C. but normally it's caused by the movement of electrons and electrons are negative. so I'm not really sure about this one

Answer: The correct answer is "movement of charged particles".

Explanation:

A current carrying wire generates the magnetic field around it.

Suppose, there is a straight long current carrying wire. Pass it through the cardboard. Sprinkle the iron filling around the wire. The iron filling gets attracted towards the current carrying wire due to the presence of magnetic field around it. The iron filling will arrange in the concentric circles. The pattern of the magnetic field are in concentric circles.

The flow of charges constitutes the current.

If there is no current flowing in the wire then there is no magnetic field around the wire.

Therefore, the movement of the charged particles generates the magnetic field in a current carrying wire. The correct option is (C).

Which conversion is the function of a photovoltaic cell? A) sunlight to mechanical energy B) electricity to heat C) sunlight to
irakobra [83]

Answer:

C. Sunlight to electricity

Explanation:

Photo voltaic cells covert sunlight to the electricity. It absorbs the light from the sun and use that sunlight to create electric current. The number of photo voltaic cells are connected together in a solar panel to generate enough electricity to power up a home.

A ray of light in water (index n1) is traveling upward toward the air and is incident at the water-air boundary at the critical
dalvyx [7]

Answer:

r = Sin^{-1}\left ( \frac{1}{n_{2}} \right )

Option (B) is true

Explanation:

refractive index of water = n1

refractive index of air = na = 1

refractive index of oil = n2

When the ray goes from water to air

Use Snell's law

Let the angle of incidence is i

n1 Sin i = na x Sin r

For total internal reflection, r = 90°

n1 x Sin i = 1 x Sin 90

Sin i =  1 / n1    .... (1)

For water oil interface

angle of incidence is i and let the angle of refraction is r.

n1 x Sin i = n2 x Sin r

n1 x / 1 n1 = n2 Sin r   (from equation (1)

Sinr = 1/n2

r = Sin^{-1}\left ( \frac{1}{n_{2}} \right )

Find the magnitude of the resultant force and the angle it makes with the positive x-axis. (Let |a| = 22 lb and |b| = 16 lb. Rou
SVEN [57.7K]

Incomplete question as the angle between the force is not given I assumed angle of 55°.The complete question is here

Two forces, a vertical force of 22 lb and another of 16 lb, act on the same object. The angle between these forces is 55°. Find the magnitude and direction angle from the positive x-axis of the resultant force that acts on the object. (Round to one decimal places.)

Answer:

Resultant Force=33.8 lb

Angle=67.2°

Explanation:

Given data

Fa=22 lb

Fb=16 lb

Θ=55⁰

To find

(i) Resultant Force F

(ii)Angle α

Solution

First we need to represent the forces in vector form

\sqrt{x} F_{1}=22j\\ F_{2}=u+v\\F_{2}=16sin(55)i+16cos(55)j\\F_{2}=16(0.82)i+16(0.5735)j\\F_{2}=13.12i+9.176j

Total Force

F=F_{1}+F_{2}\\ F_{2}=22j+13.12i+9.176j\\F_{2}=13.12i+31.176j

The Resultant Force is given as

|F|=\sqrt{x^{2} +y^{2} }\\|F|=\sqrt{(13.12)^{2} +(31.176)^{2} }\\ |F|=33.8lb

For(ii) angle

We can find the angle bu using tanα=y/x

So

tan\alpha =\frac{31.176}{13.12}\\ \alpha =tan^{-1} (\frac{31.176}{13.12})\\\alpha =67.2^{o}
