To find the distance of CD we have to add the 2 values regardless of their value ( negative or positive ).

Imagine you are on a ladder exactly where zero is. At D is a friend ( 6 feet away from you) and at C stands another friend ( 5 feet away from you).

The distance between Friend from C to friend from D is 5 + 6. so between them you have 11 feet.

Solve each equation by<br> 20 - 2x - 11
lilavasa [31]

Answer

9 - 2x

Step-by-step explanation:

since there is no equal symbol in this equation, you can only simplify it.

20-2x-11

first combine like terms:

(20-11)-2x

then subtract 11 from 20, this will give you 20-2x-11 in its simplest form.

9 - 2x\\

Write an equation in point-slope form for the line through the given point with the given slope.
Vladimir79 [104]

Answer:

The required equation for the given point and the given slope is

y+3=-\frac{1}{4}(x-8)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Let,

point A( x₁ , y₁) ≡ ( 8 ,-3)

Slope = m =-\frac{1}{4}

To Find:

Equation of Line Passing through A( x₁ , y₁) with slope = -1/4

Solution:

Equation of a line passing through a points A( x₁ , y₁) and having slope m is given by the formula,

i.e equation in point - slope form

(y-y_{1})=m(x-x_{1})

Now on substituting the slope and point A( x₁ , y₁) ≡ ( 8 ,-3) we get

(y-(-3))=-\frac{1}{4}(x-8)\\ \\y+3=-\frac{1}{4}(x-8)\ \textrm{which is the required equation in the option 2}

The required equation for the given point and the given slope is

y+3=-\frac{1}{4}(x-8)
