Answer: It can identify the sources of polluted water.

Scientific innovations and researches have been proved to be beneficial in solving the day to day social problems such as household practices such as cooking, washing of cloth, industrialization and conservation of the environment.

It can identify the sources of polluted water is the correct example of how science can solve social problems. The source of pollution can be identified by tracing back it's origin and application of filters and purifiers can help in controlling the pollution.

Science does not have a way to control climate and weather conditions, particularly for the short term disturbances. What is possible is to establish sources of polluted water.

The other three, preventing excessive rain, the schedule of cyclones, and the frequency of severe weather conditions, are not under human control.

A 50.0-ml sample of 0.200 m sodium hydroxide is titrated with 0.200 m nitric acid. calculate the ph in the titration after you a
attashe74 [19]

Hey there!:

Concentration of NaOH = 0.200 M

Concentration of HNO₃= 0.200 M

Total volume = 50.0 mL + 60.0 mL = 110 mL=> 0.11 L

The neutralization reaction between NaOH and HNO3 :

OH⁻ + H⁺ ----------> H₂O

So :

n ( H⁺ ) = 60 mL * 0.200 M / 1000 mL => 0.012 moles of H⁺

n ( OH⁻ ) = 50 mL 0.200 M / 1000 mL => 0.01 moles of OH⁻

Hence OH⁻ is limiting reagent .

Remaining moles of H⁺ = 0.012 - 0.01 => 0.002 moles

Concentration of H⁺ = 0.002 M / 0.11 L

Concentration of H⁺ = 0.01818 moles/L

Therefore:

pH = - log [ H⁺ ]

pH = - log [ 0.01818 ]

pH = 1.74

Hope that helps!

A 11.79 g sample of Mo2O3(s) is converted completely to another molybdenum oxide by adding oxygen. The new oxide has a mass of 1
Elis [28]

Answer:

MoO₃

Explanation:

To solve this question we must find the moles of molybdenum in Mo2O3. The moles of Mo remain constant in the new oxide. With the differences in masses we can find the mass of oxygen and its moles obtaining the empirical formula as follows:

Moles Mo2O3 -Molar mass: 239,878g/mol-

11.79g * (1mol / 239.878g) = 0.04915 moles Mo2O3 * (2mol Mo / 1mol Mo2O3) = 0.09830 moles Mo

Mass Mo in the oxides:

0.09830 moles Mo * (95.95g/mol) = 9.432g Mo

Mass oxygen in the new oxide:

14.151g - 9.432g = 4.719g oxygen

Moles Oxygen:

4.719g oxygen * (1mol/16g) = 0.2949 moles O

The ratio of moles of O/Mo:

0.2949molO / 0.09830mol Mo = 3

That means there are 3 moles of oxygen per mole of Molybdenum and the empirical formula is:

MoO₃

What was the Copernican revolution?
Zolol [24]

The Copernican revolution is about the model of the solar system and was given by a polish astronomer. Option C. The discovery that the universe was expanding.

The Copernican Revolution become the paradigm shift from the Ptolemaic model of the heavens, which described the cosmos as having Earth stationery on the center of the universe, to the heliocentric version with the solar on the center of the solar system.

Copernican Revolution, shift the subject of astronomy from a geocentric understanding of the universe, focused around Earth, to heliocentric knowledge, concentrated across the sun, as articulated by the Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus.

This revolution changed the way of thinking of the solar system. Earlier it was thought that earth is in the center of the solar sysytem,i.e; people believed in the geocentric model, but according to Copernicus the solar system has the sun at the center and the remaining planets revolve around it i.e he believed in a heliocentric model.
