1. Let's order the position of each runner shown in the table from greatest to least, to see which one is closer to zero:

-0.480 meters (Runner D).

-\frac{14}{25}= -0.56 meters (Runner E).

-1.05 meters (Runner C).

-\frac{5}{4}= -1.25 meters (Runner B).

-1.264 meters (Runner A).

-\frac{13}{8}= -1.625 meters (Runner F).

2. As you can see, the position of the runner that is closer to zero is:

-0.480 meters (Runner D)

3. Therefore the runner D finished in second place.

4. The runner B finished in fifth place.
