Answer:

205.3°C

Explanation:

Given parameters:

V₁   =  0.287L

V₂ = 0.18L

T₂  = 37°C

Unknown:

T₁  = ?

Solution:

Since we are interested in volume and temperature relationships in a fixed pressure of the balloon, Charles's law will be a perfect solution to this problem.

Charles's law states that "At constant pressure, the volume of a fixed mass of gas is directly proportional to its temperature".

Mathematically;

                   \frac{V_{1} }{T_{1} }  = \frac{V_{2} }{T_{2} }

where V and T are volume and temperature of the gas

              1 and 2 are initial and final states;

let us convert T₂  = 37°C to K;  37 + 273  = 300K

 Input the parameters and solve for the unknown;

               \frac{0.287}{x}   = \frac{0.18}{300}

               T₁  = 478.3K

Now convert back to °C;    478.3  - 273   = 205.3°C

The kilocalories in one can of cola if it has 40. g of carbohydrate and no fat or<br> protein
Marysya12 [62]

Answer:

One can of cola contain 0.16 kcal of carbohydrates.

Explanation:

Given data:

mass of cola can = 40 g

kilocalories of carbohydrates = ?

Solution:

we know that there are 4 cal of carbohydrates per gram.

40 g × 4 cal/g = 160 cal

Now we will convert calories into kilocalories. There are 1000 calories in one kilocalories so,

160/1000 = 0.16 kcal

so, one can of cola contain 0.16 kcal of carbohydrates.

In 1906, a 600 g diamond was found at the Premier Mine in South Africa- the world's largest uncut diamond. Suppose the diamond's
lys-0071 [83]

Answer:

852000 J

Explanation:

The following data were obtained from the question:

Mass (M) = 600 g

Change in temperature (ΔT) = 2 °C

Specific heat capacity (C) = 710 J/g℃

Heat transfered (Q) =?

Thus, we can obtain the the heat transfered to the diamond by using the following formula:

Q = MCΔT

Q = 600 × 710 × 2

Q = 852000 J

Therefore, the energy transfered to the diamond by heat is 852000 J
