Skin color, fur color, and height are examples of which inheritance pattern?
egoroff_w [7]
They are an example of Polygenic inheritance. Most Qualitative traits are controlled by multiple genes. There are multiple genes that control skin or fur color, or height, and the physical form (phenotype) is the result of a coordination of different genes (genotype). These three physical characteristics are complex in nature, there is not just one gene that controls them.

Briefly explain the three functions of the kidney. Explain how each function contributes to making urine.
MrMuchimi

Answer:

The 3 main function of kidney are ultrafiltration, reabsorption, and excretion.

Explanation:

The 3 functions of the kidney are ultrafiltration, reabsorption, and excretion.  The kidney is the excretory organ of the body and maintains the osmotic balance. The nephrons are the unit of the kidney. They are smaller tubules and have 2 parts - cortical nephrons and juxtamedullary nephrons. The cortical nephrons present in the cortex part and the juxtamedullary nephrons are present in the medulla of the kidney. Nephrons have a different section that takes part in the urine formation. These are - glomerulus surrounded by bowman's capsule, PCT, Loop of Henle's, DCT, and Collecting tubule. In the glomerulus the afferent and efferent arterioles are present. The afferent arterioles carry oxygenates blood along with glucose, amino acids, urea, salts into the kidney. Here due to more pressure, the blood diffuses those materials into kidneys. The entire nephron is surrounded by blood vessels. Thus the materials carried by blood filtered into the kidney. These filtered materials come to PCT / proximal convoluted tubule. Here 80 % absorption occurs. All the essential materials again reabsorbed by the blood vessels to the tissues. Then the rest of the salt and water enters into descending limb of the loop of Henle. Here the water is reabsorbed again to the bloodstreams. The remaining water and salts go to DCT through the ascending limb of LH. In the distal convoluted tubule less absorption occurs. Here urea, water, salts are stored and go down to collecting duct. These water and urea is the end product after ultrafiltration and selective reabsorption. These are stored again in the urethra and when it fills, pass out in the form of urine. Besides this kidney secretes ADH, renin, angiostatin hormone which helps in maintaining the homeostasis of the body.

Evaluate the analogy of tropical rain forests being referred to as the "lungs" of earth.
xenn [34]

Answer:

Tropical- rain forests are considered to be the lungs of the  Earth due to their role in the carbon-oxygen cycle. The rain forests take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen into the Earth hence, providing the Earth with an abundance of oxygen. The working of these tropical rain forests is just like the working of our lungs, lungs remove carbon dioxide from the body and supply oxygen. Tropical rain forests carbon dioxide for the Earth and supplies it with oxygen.

What are two types of molecules made in the smooth endoplasmic reticulum
Vadim26 [7]

Answer:

The two types of molecules synthesized by smooth endoplasmic reticulum is phospholipid molecules of plasma membrane and steroid hormone.

Explanation:

Endoplasmic reticulum is one of the most important organelle found inside the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cell.Endoplasmic reticulam is of two types

1 Rough endoplasmic reticulum contain ribosome on its surface which is responsible for the roughness of this endoplasmic retuculum.Rough endoplasmic retuculm help in protein synthesis.

2  Smooth endoplasmic reticulum does not contain ribosomes in its structure.Smooth endoplasmic reticulum is found in large amount in the testis ans ovaries of human.

Smooth endoplasmic reticulum play a significant role in the biosynthesis of phos pholipid of plasma membrane along with the production of various steroid hormones such as testosterone.
