[(29+18) + (17-8)] / 8

Remember we start with the grouping symbols first, starting with the parentheses.

29+18 = 47

17-8 = 9

Then we add them together.

47+9 = 56

So now we have:

[56] / 8

56 / 8 = 7

The answer is 7

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Replace (x, y) with (1, 1) and verify if the equations are correct.

You would ignore the x and y in the equations. Testing one of each pair.

  • a. 3 + 2 = 3, incorrect
  • b. 7 + 2 = 9, correct
  • c. 8 + 1 = 7, incorrect
  • d. 8 - 2 = 4, incorrect

It is obvious that only b. is correct.
