I think the answer is D. because it seems the most logical. It is definitely not B. or C. and I don't think A. seems right.

Find the value of n in this equation.
lisabon 2012 [21]

Answer:

 • D. 9

=========================

Given

Triangle with:

 • Base of n² -3,
 • Midsegment of 39.

To find

 • The value of n.

Solution

As per definition of midsegment, it is connecting the midpoints of two sides and its length is half the length of the opposite side of the triangle.

So we have:

 • (n² - 3)/2 = 39

Solve it for n:

 • n² - 3 = 78
 • n² = 81
 • n = √81
 • n = 9

Correct choice is D.

What is the value of 7(x+4)² - 3x when x = 2?
sdas [7]

Answer: the value of 7x-y is -14.

Step-by-step explanation:

When x=2 and y=4,

To find the value of 7x - y when x =2, y = 4, this means when ever you see x, put 2 in replacement, y, put 4 respectively.

7x - y = 7(2 - 4)

14 - 28

= -14.

A parabola has its vertex at (2, 1) and crosses the x-axis at (1,0) anu al l
Y_Kistochka [10]

Answer:

A

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of a parabola in vertex form is

y = a(x - h)² + k

where (h, k) are the coordinates of the vertex and a is a multiplier

Here (h, k) = (2, 1), thus

y = a(x - 2)² + 1

To find a substitute (1, 0) into the equation

0 = a(1 - 2)² + 1

0 = a + 1 ( subtract 1 from both sides )

a = - 1

Hence

y = - (x - 2)² + 1 or

y = 1 - (x - 2)² → A
