A 384 m long train is moving on a straight track with a speed of 77.3 km/h. The engineer applies the brakes at a crossing, and l

ater the back of the last car passing the crossing with a speed of 19.5 km/h. Assuming constant acceleration, determine how long the train blocked the crossway. Disregard the width of the crossing. Convert the time into three different units: s, min, and hr.

Answer:

The time the train blocked the crossway is

0.007934h=0.476 min=28.6 s

Explanation:

The average speed is given by

V= (Vi+Vf)/2

and

V= dx/dt

Where

Vi= initial speed

Vf= final speed

dx= change of position=0.384 km

dt=time the train blocked the crossway

dt=2dx/(Vi+Vf)

dt=2*0.384 km/(77.3 +19.5) km/h

dt=0.007934h

dt=0.007934h*(60min/1h)=0.476 min

dt=0.476 min*(60s/1min)=28.6 s

erik [133]

Answer:

P = 36068.7 Watt

Explanation:

As we know that average power is the ratio of total work done and total time interval

so we will have

Power = \frac{Total \: Work}{time}

now we know that

Work = \frac{1}{2}mv^2 + mgh

W = \frac{1}{2}(700)(11^2) + 700(9.8)(9.6)

so we will have

W = 42350 J + 68856 J

W = 108206 J

now power is given as

P = \frac{108206}{3}

P = 36068.7 Watt

In physics, what is the positive and negative sign used for when applied to velocity and acceleration?
Kobotan [32]

Answer:

Opposite direction

Explanation:

For example: The first object travels in the direction pointing to east, while the other one travels pointing to the west.

The first object will have a positive value while the second one will have a negative, cause it's going to the opposite direction
