A vertical number line resembles a thermometer. It emphasizes that we count up in the number system.  Vertical number lines are just alternative way to look at the numbers.

This is commonly used in adding or subtracting

For example: 5 – 3

5 is the start, the sign determines whether you go down or go up, the minus sign denotes down then so the last number denotes how many steps you are going down where you land is the answer. The same goes with addition but instead of down, the plus sign denotes going up.

3 - what = 11<br><br> please help with this one
SOVA2 [1]
So we can set up a simple equation for this, where the word “what” is a variable, x. This equation is 3 - x=11. Then we subtract 3 from both sides, giving us -x=8. We can divide both sides by -1, giving us x=-8. The answer would be -8. Hope this helped.

You are creating a decorative rope that is at least 20 feet long. You do not have enough 6 inch beads to make the rope, so you w
Inessa05 [86]

You can use at most 24 beads that are 10 inches long to decorate the rope.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Length of rope = 120 feet

1 foot = 12 inches

20 foot = 20*12 = 240 inches

Length of bead = 10 inches

Let,

x represents the number of beads used on rope.

As the rope is 240 inches long, therefore, the total length of beads cannot exceed 240 inches.

Length of each bead*Number of beads ≤ length of rope

10*x\leq 240\\10x\leq 240

Dividing both sides by 10

\frac{10x}{10}\leq \frac{240}{10}\\x\leq 24

You can use at most 24 beads that are 10 inches long to decorate the rope.
