Mutation is random, natural selection isn't random because those mutations which are most adaptable to the environmental conditions of the time are those which produce more offspring. I mean, "selection", by definition, isn't "random". <span>The clue is in the title. It's not considered random for the simple reason that it's not random. Natural selection is an extremely deterministic process. So, i guess it's (D) Natural Selection

Answer: C. Inheritance of acquired characteristics.

Biological evolution refers to the mechanism of slow and steady change in the characteristics of organisms. This takes place over a period of many generations. The primary factors responsible for biological evolution are natural selection, genetic drift, and mutation.

Acquired characteristics are those changes in an organism which occur due to environmental influences. This makes the organisms adapt to the changing environmental conditions.

Inheritance of acquired characteristics means certain characters are passed from one generation to the next generation. This does not result in any change in the population. Thus, the inheritance of acquired characteristics is not a mechanism for biological evolution.

What theory explain how a new idea or product gains acceptance and spreads through a specific population or subset of an organiz
777dan777 [17]

Answer:

The correct answer is diffusion of innovation theory.

Explanation:

The DOI or diffusion of innovation theory was postulated in 1962 by E.M. Rogers. It is considered as one of the oldest theories in the field of social science. It was deduced in order to illustrate how with time, a product or an idea attains momentum and spreads via a particular social system or population. The eventual outcome of this diffusion is that the individuals, which are the components of a social system, adopts a novel behavior, notion, or a product.

Here adoption signifies that an individual does something distinctly than what he or she was doing previously. The prime condition of adoption is that the individual must acquire the behavior, idea, or product as a novel or innovative thing. Getting amended with a novel concept, product, or behavior does not take place instantaneously within a social system, however, it is a thing in which some individuals possess the tendency to adopt a new thing more easily in comparison to others.

How could an error during transcription affect the protein that is produced?
Ahat [919]

Answer: An error during transcription could produce a shorter protein or induce changes in the protein's sequence.

Explanation: Transcription is the process of single-stranded RNA synthesis from a DNA template (gene). During this process, RNA polymerase reads the DNA template and synthetize RNA, keeping the sequence. The RNA sequence will be reading later by ribosomes and protein will be produced. An error in transcription could produce changes in codons that are sequences of 3 nucleotides that determine  aminoacids of the protein, and that would change protein folding and inactive it. Another possible result would be that  error in transcription produce a premature stop codon that cause a shorter inactive protein.
