458 pennies have a value of $4.58.

This can be changed to the combination of
.. 4 dollars
.. 2 quarters
.. 1 nickel
.. 3 pennies

If you get dollar coins, you will have a total of 10 coins. If you get dollar bills, you will have 4 bills and 6 coins.
___
On special request, you can ask for one or two $2 bills, thus you could have
.. 2 × $2 bills + above 6 coins (the minimum number of money items)
or
.. 1 × $2 bill + 2 × $1 bills + above coins

When using substitution to solve this system of equations, what is the result of the first step?
Allushta [10]

Answer:

The method of solving "by substitution" works by solving one of the equations (you choose which one) for one of the variables (you choose which one), and then plugging this back into the other equation, "substituting" for the chosen variable and solving for the other. Then you back-solve for the first variable.

Step-by-step explanation:

Hope this helps you

What are “like terms”? Why can we only add like terms?
SSSSS [86.1K]

Answer:

Like terms are terms whose variables are the same.

We can only add them because if they does not have the same variable you do not actually know if the variables are equivalent and you will get the wrong answer.

Step-by-step explanation:

Ex: 4z,7z,108z,45z

Ex: 4w-2h+7a-2w

You can not add 4w and 7a because you do not know what the variables equal so you do not know the true number so add or subtract by.
