Galileo Galilei is an important forefather to much of what we know today about physics and astronomy. In fact, he was one of the first people to claim that the sun was the center of the universe, not the Earth. He was also the first to use the telescope to examine celestial bodies. Finally, he realized that in a vacuum, if two different weighted objects were dropped, they would land at the same time. Those are just a few of his many accomplishments.

Is there any change in mass of substance after it changes its state? Explain with an example
Flura [38]

Answer:

No

Explanation:

When a substance changes its state , there will not be any change in the mass of substance . For example , if we change 100 grams of water (liquid) to ice(solid) , the mass of ice will be same i.e., 100 grams . This shows there is no change in the mass even if a substance changes its state.

Solve the following problem showing all work, the formula, and correct units.
Temka [501]

5g/cm³

it is not iron.

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Density of iron = 7.874g/cm³

Mass of metal = 2000g

Volume of metal = 400cm³

Unknown:

Density of bar = ?

Is it iron = ?

Solution:

The density of a substance is its mass per unit area. Every substance have an intensive density value that typifies them all.

The density of water and other substances are the same if they maintain their level of pureness.

   Density = \frac{mass }{volume}

Density of metal bar = \frac{2000}{400} = 5g/cm³

Since this value is not the same as the given density of iron, it is not iron.

What is the x-component of a vector with a magnitude of 115 km at an angle of 22°?
ruslelena [56]

The x-component of a vector are < 106.6, 43.07 >

Depending on the angle we are provided, the x-component of a vector can either be cos or sin. Cos always corresponds to the right triangle's side that contacts the specified angle.

If a vector v with magnitude ||v|| makes an angle θ with the positive x-axis then,

v = ||v|| cos θi + ||v|| sin θj

 =  < ||v|| cos θ , ||v|| sin θ >

Magnitude p = 115 km

Angle = 22°

p = ||p|| < cos θ, sin θ >

p = 115 < cos 22°, sin 22° >

p = 115 < 0.927, 0.3746 >

p = < 106.6, 43.07 >

Therefore,  the x-component of a vector are < 106.6, 43.07 >
