1) Since the larger number is a negative, you’re going to get a negative solution for number one. An easy way to do the math is to ignore the negative sign in (-116) For a moment. And subtract 56 from it.
116 - 56 = 60. Don’t forget to place the negative sign we pushed to this side before the solution. The answer is -60.

2) We do the same thing we did in number one, but with new numbers. The answer in total is -178.

3. As stated, we do the same thing we did in number one. Just because there’s a decimal doesn’t change much. And your answer would be -1.1

Steps of adding 56+(−116) using number line are as following:

1) Draw a number line by ranging from -120 to +60.

2) Point out 56 on the number line.

3) Because -116 is added to 56 on the number line,  please move 116 numbers left to 56 on the number line. We always go left in addition of a negative number on the number line.

4) The number we reach -60 on left side would be our final sum.

b) Steps of adding 34+(−212) using number line are as following:

1) Draw a number line by ranging from -212 to +40.

2) Point out 34 on the number line.

3) Because -212 is added to 34 on the number line,  please move 212 numbers left to 34 on the number line. We always go left in addition of a negative number on the number line.

4) The number we reach -178 on left side would be our final sum.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

c) Steps of adding 1.3+(-2.4) using number line are as following:

1) Draw a number line by ranging from -3 to +3.

2) Point out 1.3 on the number line.

3) Because -2.4 is added to 1.3 on the number line,  please move 2.4 numbers left to 1.3 on the number line. We always go left in addition of a negative number on the number line.

4) The number we reach -1.1 on left side would be our final sum.
