Let say the length of the rectangle is x. The material that can be used would determine the perimeter of the rectangle. Using the perimeter formula you can find the rectangle width

perimeter= 2(width+length)
400= 2(width + x)
200= width+x
width= 200-x

The function to determine the area would be:
area= length * width
area= x* (200-x)
area= 200x- x^2

To find the highest area you need to find out the vertex by finding the value of x when the differentiate of the function equal to zero.
dx/dy= 200- 2x = 0
2x= 200
x=100

If you put x=100 into the area function you will find
area= 200x- x^2
area= 200(100)- (100)^2
area= 20,000 - 10,000= 10000 feet^2

Answer:

20000

Step-by-step explanation:

Since the fencing borders a river we know the formula for the perimeter is P=L+2w

400=L+2w

L=400-2w

Plug this into the area

A=Lw

A=w(400-2w)

A=400w-2w^2

A'=-4w+400

set the derivative to 0

-4w+400=0

w=100

A=100(400-2(100))

A=20000

A pencil and an eraser cost 1.10 together. if the pencil costs one dollar more than the eraser how much does the eraser cost
Kazeer [188]

1 pencil + 1 eraser = $1.10

Pencil cost $1 more than the eraser.

⇒ If we take away $1 from the total, both the pencil and the eraser will cost the same.

⇒ $1.10 - $1.00 = $0.10

Divide by 2 to find the cost of the eraser.

⇒$0.10 ÷ 2 = $0.05

Find the cost of the pencil, which is $1 more than the eraser.

⇒ $0.05 + $1 = $1.05

Answer: The eraser costs $0.05

If you shift the exponential parent function, f(x) = 2^x , right 2 units, what is the equation of the new function?
aev [14]

Answer:

g(x)=2^{x-2}

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Translations</u>

For a > 0

f(x+a) \implies f(x) \: \textsf{translated}\:a\:\textsf{units left}

f(x-a) \implies f(x) \: \textsf{translated}\:a\:\textsf{units right}

f(x)+a \implies f(x) \: \textsf{translated}\:a\:\textsf{units up}

f(x)-a \implies f(x) \: \textsf{translated}\:a\:\textsf{units down}

Parent function:  f(x)=2^x

Translated 2 units right:  g(x)=f(x-2)=2^{x-2}
