2(b+8)-9=5  \\ \\ 2b+16=5+9 \\ \\ 2b+16=16 \\ \\ 2b=16-16 \\ \\ 2b=0 \\ \\ \boxed{x=0} \\ \\ \\ 15=8x-5+2x \\ \\ 15=10x-5 \\ \\ 15+5=10x \\ \\ 20=10x \\\\ \boxed{x=\frac{20}{10}=2}

2b+16=14
2b=-2
b=-1

15=8x-5+2x
20=8x+2x
