A park has a walking path in the shape of a rectangle. The side by a lake is 180 meters. The walking path also has a 200-meters

long diagonal that takes walkers to a basketball court. How long is the side adjacent to the side by the lake?

The answer is A(87).I just plugged the numbers into the Pythagorean Theorem. 200^2 - 180^2 = the square root of 7,600, which equals about 87.

The park side length by the lake as given  180 meters. The  walking path is in  the shape of a rectangle with diagonal 200 square meters. Angles of a rectangle are 90 degrees. We have a right triangle with diagonal as the hypotenuse ,one of the leg as 180 meters and we need to find the adjacent side of the side by the lake that is the other leg

Pythagorean Theorem states: that the square of the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle) is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.

Or ,c^{2}=a^{2}+b^{2}. Where a,b are the legs of the triangle and c is the hypotenuse.

Substituting the values of c and a we have:

200^{2}=180^{2}+b^{2}.

Or 40000=32400+b^{2}.

Subtracting 32400 both sides ,

b^{2}=7600.

Or b= 87.17.= 87 m.

The side adjacent to the side by the lake is 87m.

Option A is the right answer.

A study is performed in San Antonio to determine whether the average weekly grocery bill per five-person family in the town is s
bogdanovich [222]

Answer:

No, the sample evidence is not statistically significant (P-value = 0.125).

To reject the null hypothesis, the P-value has to be smaller than the significance level, so the significance level to reject the null hypothesis has to be 0.125 or higher.

Step-by-step explanation:

This is a hypothesis test for the population mean.

The claim is that the average weekly grocery bill per five-person family in San Antonio is significantly different from the national average.

Then, the null and alternative hypothesis are:

H_0: \mu=131\\\\H_a:\mu\neq 131

The significance level is 0.05.

The sample has a size n=50.

The sample mean is M=133.474.

As the standard deviation of the population is not known, we estimate it with the sample standard deviation, that has a value of s=11.193.

The estimated standard error of the mean is computed using the formula:

s_M=\dfrac{s}{\sqrt{n}}=\dfrac{11.193}{\sqrt{50}}=1.583

Then, we can calculate the t-statistic as:

t=\dfrac{M-\mu}{s/\sqrt{n}}=\dfrac{133.474-131}{1.583}=\dfrac{2.474}{1.583}=1.563

The degrees of freedom for this sample size are:

df=n-1=50-1=49

This test is a two-tailed test, with 49 degrees of freedom and t=1.563, so the P-value for this test is calculated as (using a t-table):

P-value=2\cdot P(t>1.563)=0.125

As the P-value (0.125) is bigger than the significance level (0.05), the effect is  not significant.

The null hypothesis failed to be rejected.

There is not enough evidence to support the claim that the average weekly grocery bill per five-person family in San Antonio is significantly different from the national average.

What is the equation in point slope form of the line that passes through the point (−1, −3) and has a slope of 4?
Firlakuza [10]

Answer:

(y-(-3))=4(x-(-1))

Step-by-step explanation:

formula for point slope form is:

y-y1=m(x-x1)

just plug in numbers from the point (-1, -3) for x1 and y1. The slope 4, would plug into m.

Answer the following questions about the sphere whose equation is given by x2+y2+z2−8x+4y=−4. 1. Find the radius of the sphere.
Anna [14]

Answer:

we have (a,b,c)=(4,-2,0) and R=4 (radius)

Step-by-step explanation:

since

x²+y²+z²−8x+4y=−4

we have to complete the squares to finish with a equation of the form

(x-a)²+(y-b)²+(z-c)²=R²

that is the equation of a sphere of radius R and centre in (a,b,c)

thus

x²+y²+z²−8x+4y=−4

x²+y²+z²−8x+4y +4 = 0

x²+y²+z²−8x+4y +4 +16-16 =0

(x²−8x + 16) + (y² + 4y + 4 ) + (z²) -16 = 0

(x-4)² + (y+2)² + z² = 16

(x-4)² + (y-(-2))² + (z-0)² = 4²

thus we have a=4 , b= -2 , c= 0 and R=4
