The manager of a grocery store wants to determine the average amount of money spent at his store as it compares to the average d

ollar amount spent at his competitor's store. At the end of the day, he reviews the amounts of the last 15 grocery orders. The amounts rounded to the nearest dollar are: 41, 38, 19, 30, 21, 53, 34, 34, 37, 29, 50, 43, 57, 28, 50 He then visits the store of his competitor and surveys the first 15 people leaving the store with groceries. The amounts he records, also rounded to the nearest dollar, are: 86, 15, 75, 40, 51, 60, 27, 45, 112, 7, 65, 31, 18, 27, 69 What is the average amount of money spent at each store to the nearest cent? For which store is the mean a better representation of the data? In two or more complete sentences, explain your answer.

Solving systems of equations by substitution
SashulF [63]
Equation 1)  2x - 3y = -1
Equation 2)  y = x -1

Rearrange equation 2 so that x and y are on the same side. To do so, you subtract x from both sides.

2)  -x + y = -1
1)  2x - 3y = -1

Multiply ALL of equation 2 by 2.

2)  2(-x + y = -1)

Simplify.

2)  -2x + 2y = -1
1)  2x - 3y = -1

Add equations together.

-y = 0

So, y = 0

Plug in 0 for y in the first equation.

2x - 3y = -1

2x - 3(0) = -1

Simplify.

2x - 0 = -1

2x = -1

Divide both sides by 2.

x = -1/2

(-1/2 , 0)

Musya8 [376]

Answer:

m=\frac{15}{8}

Step-by-step explanation:

-6\left(1-m\right)=9-2m

-6(1-m)=-6+6m

-6+6m=9-2m

<u>Add 6 to both sides:-</u>

<u />-6+6m+6=9-2m+6

6m=-2m+15

<u>Now, add 2m to both sides:-</u>

<u />6m+2m=-2m+15+2m

<u>Divide both sides by 8:-</u>

<u />\frac{8m}{8}=\frac{15}{8}

m=\frac{15}{8}

2. CTfastrak bus waiting times are uniformly distributed from zero to 20 minutes. Find the probability that a randomly selected
Juliette [100K]

Answer:

b. 0.25

c. 0.05

d. 0.05

e. 0.25

Step-by-step explanation:

if the waiting time x follows a uniformly distribution from zero to 20, the probability that a passenger waits exactly x minutes P(x) can be calculated as:

P(x)=\frac{1}{b-a}=\frac{1}{20-0} =0.05

Where a and b are the limits of the distribution and x is a value between a and b. Additionally the probability that a passenger waits x minutes or less P(X<x) is equal to:

P(X

Then, the probability that a randomly selected passenger will wait:

b. Between 5 and 10 minutes.

P(5

c. Exactly 7.5922 minutes

P(7.5922)=0.05

d. Exactly 5 minutes

P(5)=0.05

e. Between 15 and 25 minutes, taking into account that 25 is bigger than 20, the probability that a passenger will wait between 15 and 25 minutes is equal to the probability that a passenger will wait between 15 and 20 minutes. So:

P(15

For mathematical sentence would x=1 be a mathematical sentence?.
erma4kov [3.2K]
Yes it a mathematical sentence because it has the verb "is equal" in the sencence.

x = 1 translates to:
x is equal to 1 - notice the "is equal"

x + 1 is not a sentence because there is no "is equal" in the word form
x plus 1 (this needs more to it to understand)
