A reaction occurs when solid X is placed into solution Y. As a result, the temperature of the new solution increases by 3°C. The

temperature rises another 2°C when more of solid X is added to the solution. What does this indicate about the effect of adding more solid? It increased the number of molecular collisions. It decreased the number of molecular collisions. It decreased the space between the molecules and lowered the reaction rate. It increased the space between the molecules and increased the reaction rate

Answer: It increased the number of molecular collisions.

Justification:

The collision theory states the reaction is the result of the collisions between the particles (atoms, ions, or molecules).

The increase of the temperature as solid is added is the result of the reaction of solid X when it is placed into the solution.

Since, the main postulate of the collision theory is that the particles have to collide to react, the amount of particles is a decisive factor of the reaction rate. The raise of the temperature when the solid is added is an evidence of this postulate: more particles → more collisions → more reactions → increase in temperature.

How many atp molecules can be produced when a six carbon fatty acid is completely oxidized through the fatty acid spiral?
Karolina [17]
The simplified formula for the determination of the number of ATP molecules produced from fat oxidation is:
5(n-1) + 12n - 2

This formula is derived using the amount of energy produced using each turn of the Kerb's cycle, which has two-carbon units fed to it via beta oxidation (also referred to as the fatty acid spiral).
In order to use this formula, we require the value of n. n is the number of two-carbon units that the fatty acid molecule will produce. This means:

n = 6 / 2 = 3
Using n = 3

5(3 - 1) + 12(3) - 2

44 ATP molecules

As a part of a clinical study, a pharmacist is asked to prepare a modification of a standard 22g package of a 2% mupirocin ointm
Vesna [10]

Answer:

226.8 mg of mupirocin powder are required

Explanation:

Given that;

weight of standard pack = 22 g

mupirocin by weight = 2%

so weight of mupirocin = 2% × 22 = 2/100 × 22 = 0.44 g

so by adding the needed quantity of mupirocin powder to prepare a 3% w/w mupirocin ointment

mg of mupirocin powder are required = ?, lets rep this with x

Total weight of ointment = 22 + x g

Amount of mupirocin = 0.44 + x g

percentage of mupirocin in ointment is 3?

so

3/100 = 0.44 + x g / 22 + x g

3( 22 + x g ) = 100( 0.44 + x g )

66 + 3x g = 44 + 100x g

66 - 44 = 100x g - 3x g

97 x g = 22

x g = 22 / 97

x g = 0.2268 g

we know that; 1 gram = 1000 Milligram

so 0.2268 g = x mg

x mg = 0.2268 × 1000

x mg = 226.8 mg

Therefore, 226.8 mg of mupirocin powder are required

Where does acid rain occur?
vlabodo [156]
Acid rain is precipitation that contains high levels of nitric or sulfuric acid. Natural and industrial sources can release sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide into the atmosphere, leading them to combine chemically with oxygen and water to form their respective acidic molecules. These acids are then deposited through rain or dust depending on the climate of the region. While acid rain can occur anywhere in the world, it is prevalent in regions that have high industrial activity.
