A catalyst can be defined as the substance, which helps to increase the rate of a chemical reaction without undergoing any permanent chemical change itself. A catalyst increases the rate of the chemical reactions by decreasing the activation energy of the concerned reactions. The activation energy can be defined as the minimum amount of energy which is necessarily required for a a reaction to start. When the activation energy is decreased, the chemical reaction can proceed at a faster rate.

Hence, the answer is 'by decreasing the activation energy of a reaction'.

______________ are enzymes that catalyze the transfer of a phosphoryl group from atp to an acceptor.
diamong [38]

The enzymes that catalyze the transfer of a phosphoryl group from ATP to an acceptor are known as kinases.

Enzymes are those proteins which accelerate the chemical reactions by acting as biological catalysts. They have high molecular weight and the molecules on which the enzymes act are known as substrates. They act at optimum pH and temperature.

Kinases are those enzymes which catalyze the transfer of phosphate groups from the high energy molecules like ATP which can donate phosphate to specific substrates. This process is called phosphorylation. Kinases belong to a family of enzymes called phosphotransferases.

Leto [7]

The physical force exerted by a fluid on a structure is HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE . The main pressure is the BLOOD hydrostatic pressure, which pushes materials OUT OF the capillary. The other main force regulating filtration and reabsorption is OSMOTIC PRESSURE , which refers to the "pull" of water into an area by osmosis due to the HIGHER relative concentration of solutes.

If you pull or cut the top off a pineapple and replant it what would happen?
Sophie [7]

Answer:

It will start growing.

Explanation:

If we cut the top off a pineapple and replant it in the soil or a liquid solution so it will start growing because at the top of pineapple fruit, the vegetative parts such as leaves, stem and buds which bear roots are present so if we cut the top of a pineapple and placed it a soil, it will start growing due to the presence of vegetative parts that is required by the plant for their regrowth.

The piece of evidence that Charles Darwin was missing when he developed the theory of natural selection was that ____
mr Goodwill [35]

The right answer to this question is option C. the traits acted upon natural selection were genes.

At the time Charles Darwin developed the evolution theory, there wasn't a single study about genes in all science scenery, that could be explained by the lack of technology to study them and even to know they existed in the first place.

So, his theory was basically talking about adaptation, if an organism can't survive a specific environment, he'll probably die until another generation comes in and this one can survive in this environment, passing their genes to the next ones. The lack of information was the knowledge about the genes we have today, that's why most scientists take only the new Darwin theory, that includes the study of genes.
