Calculate delta g reaction at 298 k under the conditions 2hg+o2

Chemistry

The balanced chemical reaction is 2Hg + O2 -> 2HgO. To calculate the delta G, we use the formula: ΔG = ΔH – TΔS. The ΔH is computed by subtracting the standard enthalpy of formation of the reactants from the products, multiplied correspondingly with their stoichiometric coefficients. The same is to obtain ΔS.

The necessary information all at 298 K are:

ΔH_Hg = 0 kJ/mol; since it is at its standard state

ΔS_Hg = 75.90 kJ/mol

ΔH_O2 = 0 kJ/mol; since it is at its standard state

ΔS_O2 = 0.161 kJ/mol K

ΔH_HgO = -90 kJ/mol

ΔS_HgO = 0.070 kJ/mol K

Thus, the delta G of reaction is -132.022 kJ. The negative value denotes a spontaneous reaction.

How many grams of NaCI are present in 11.00 moles
Amiraneli [1.4K]

Answer: 642.93 g of NaCl

Explanation:

11.00 mol NaCl  x  __58.448 g__  =  642.928 g of NaCl

                                 1 mol NaCl

I would round to 642.93 g of NaCl, but round to however many significant figures asked for.

My chemistry teacher made this map (image attached) to teach us how to do conversions. Just follow the map. I think it's pretty straight forward. I hope this helps.

How many moles of caco3 are there in an antacid tablet containing 0.515 g caco3?
MaRussiya [10]
The moles of CaCO3 which are there in antacid tablet that contain 0.515g CaCO3 is calculated as follows

moles  =mass/molar  mass

the  molar  mass  of  CaCO3 =  ( 40  x1)+  (12  x  1)  + (16 x  3)=  100  g/mol

moles  is  therefore=  0.515g/100 g/mol=  5.15  x10^-3  moles

Water alone does not easily remove grease from dishes or hands because grease is nonpolar and water is polar. The addition of so
rewona [7]

Answer:

Micelle Formation

Explanation:

The soap molecule has a nonpolar and a polar cationic end when it is dissolved in water. When it dissolves in water, the sodium stearate congregates to form small spheres (called micelles) with the on the inside and the on the surface. The anionic end can attract and interacts with the polar water molecules, while the interact with the nonpolar grease. This allows the soapy water to remove the grease by trapping the grease inside the micelle.

Which is a geographic example of a transform facit boundary
pshichka [43]

Answer: two plates sliding toward each other

Explanation:

Transform boundaries are where two of these plates are sliding alongside each other. This causes intense earthquakes, the formation of thin linear valleys, and split river beds. The most famous example of a transform boundary is the San Andreas Fault in California.
