The French people disliked Louis XVI. The French people did not like the fact that he imposed a taxation on the French people. This lead the people to believe that the monarchy was conspiring against them.
B. The population tended to be small. Hunting-gathering methods of obtaining food couldn't support larger populations we see today; population only started to really grow when agricultural methods were developed, and sedentary societies started cropping up. (Get it? Cropping? Crops? Farming?)
